About Us
We are a friendly group which began in 1971, with weekly classes on Monday afternoons and Tuesday evenings. Usually there are sufficient numbers for 4 sets of 8 dancers on Tuesdays and 2 sets at Monday afternoon classes. Each September when we begin to dance after a break in the summer, we run classes for beginners who wish to learn the basic steps and formations; more experienced dancers are there and able to help beginners.
The Monday classes run from 2.00pm till 3.45pm in the Methodist Centre, Bingham NG13 8AD except for the second Monday of the month when they meet in the Thomas Cranmer Centre, Aslockton NG13 9AL. Three terms of weekly classes are held from early September until mid July.
The Tuesday evening classes are in two parts, with teaching for beginners and simple dances in the first half, then a break followed by social dancing for the remainder of the evening, when the beginners are welcome to watch; as the year progresses they will find that they can take part in an increasing number of the dances. Classes are at the Bridge Community Centre, Lincoln Road, Newark NG24 2DQ. We begin at 7.30 pm and normally finish around 9.45pm. Two terms of weekly classes are held from early September until late May. The cost is very reasonable - £25 for each term or £3 each session for occasional dancers. |

New dancers are always welcome. Perhaps ....
• they are complete beginners • they have experienced a ceilidh at a wedding or social function and want to find out more • they have danced previously, possibly at school • they have moved to the area recently Please bring soft comfortable shoes, which will be fine while you are learning. You will find out more about dancing shoes, which you may wish to buy at a later date. And remember ...you do not need a partner! |
