Newark Day School - 2024
We are delighted to welcome Deb Lees as the teacher for our day school in 2024. Deb will be accompanied by local accordionist Iain Carmichael.
The event will take place at the Bridge Community Centre, Lincoln Road, Newark NG24 2DQ. Information about the evening dance can be found below. |
Day School Programme
Saturday 10th February 2024
10.00 - 10.30 Registration and coffee
10.30 - 12.30 Class: Fundamentals of SCD
12.30 - 14.00 Lunch
14.00 - 17.00 Class for experienced/advanced dancers
There will a 20-minute break for tea/coffee
Notes on the classes:
1. The morning session is for dancers who aim to improve their steps, dance technique and improvers, as well as for those whose aim is to improve steps, dance technique and gain confidence in dancing basic formations.
2. The afternoon session is for more experienced dancers who have a secure knowledge of the basic formations, including reels, poussettes and hello-goodbye setting. This knowledge will be assumed so that the teacher can concentrate on developing further skills and knowledge. Several of the dances taught will be from the evening social dance programme.
3. It is expected that all participants to wear footwear appropriate to Scottish Country Dancing such as ghillies or ballet style shoes.
